Historically, there has been a lack of inclusive sex education in schools. Many LGBTQ+ and SEND students have reported feeling left out. We heard from Nick Dunne, Head of Education at the sexual health charity Brook. He outlined the detrimental impact of a lack of inclusion and why accessible education is so important.
Liverpool City Council have developed a 3-year vision to address sexual health problems within the city. We heard from James Woolgar, Advanced Public Health Practitioner and Sexual Health Lead at Liverpool City Council on the logistics of the approach, the push for better contraception rates and the benefits of a reproductive health hub approach.
The 2020 State of the Nation Report on Sexual Health highlighted that some groups are disproportionately susceptible to contracting STIs. We heard from Dr Michael Brady Medical Director at the Terrence Higgins Trust and Sexual Health and HIV Consultant at King’s College Hospital.
