St. Bede’s and St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Bradford have used the Arts Award framework for several years to promote the cross-curricular value of the arts.

The Arts Award aims to support young people who want to deepen their engagement with the arts, build creative and leadership skills and achieve a national qualification. It is divided into a Bronze, Silver and Gold Award, all with different assessment criteria. It includes students engaging in planning, reviewing, and researching ideas and themes in the art world. Rebecca Voller is Head of Arts & MFL Faculty at St Bede’s & St Joseph’s College.

In this session from The Delivering Excellence in Teaching Arts in Schools Conference, 2021, Rebecca outlined the structure of the Arts Award, how their school has integrated it into the curriculum; providing students with a wealth of learning opportunities.
