Overview

Harassment continues to affect people across public spaces, housing, education, transport, workplaces, and online environments, with many victims still facing barriers to reporting incidents or accessing support. Recent legislation, including the Public Sexual Harassment Act and new government measures to tackle sex-based harassment in public, has increased expectations on organisations and agencies to take stronger action to prevent harassment and improve victim protection. At the same time, challenges are becoming more complex, with rising concerns around online abuse, misogyny, and hate incidents. Policing, local authorities, housing providers, education settings, transport operators, and community safety partners all have an important role to play in identifying harmful behaviour early, responding effectively, and helping to create safer environments for the public.

  • Overall, 1 in 10 people aged 16 years and over experienced at least one form of harassment that made them feel upset, distressed, or threatened in the previous 12 months (ONS)
  • A quarter (26%) of those who had experienced sexual harassment said they had experienced harassment at their place of work. (ONS)
  • Over 70% of women in the UK say they’ve experienced sexual harassment in public (UN Women)

Join us at The Tackling Harassment Conference 2026 to hear leading experts, policymakers, employers, and frontline practitioners share the latest developments in legislation, prevention strategies, and practical approaches to responding to harassment. Explore how organisations can strengthen victim support, improve reporting and enforcement pathways, and build safer communities through effective multi-agency collaboration.
