Overview:

Following the Big Listen Consultation, it is critical that Ofsted reevaluate how they inspect schools, the criteria which they measure performance and consider the impact inspections have on teacher wellness. Elevating standards for pupils is a shared priority uniting educational institutions across the UK. Collaborative efforts between teachers and Ofsted are therefore essential to achieve improved outcomes and continuous development of both teachers and pupils.

  • In the 2023/24 academic year, Ofsted carried out 6,930 inspections of which 4,023 were graded inspections (Ofsted, 2024)
  • 98% of teachers say that preparing for and undergoing Ofsted inspections has a negative impact on staff mental health and wellbeing (National Education Union, 2024)
  • 84% say that Ofsted has a negative impact on teaching and learning in schools (National Education Union, 2024)

Join us at the 2025 School Improvement Conference: Collaborating to Elevate Education Standards to hear the outcomes from Ofsted’s Big Listen Consultation, the actionable changes Ofsted have made in inspecting schools, as well as best practice case studies for elevating school standards, improving provisions for Send and supporting disadvantaged pupils.
