Overview
UAS with AQA sponsors of the Youth Services Conference 2024

Youth work plays a vital role in young people’s social development and building their confidence and self-esteem. In March 2023, the Government pledged over £90 million to build and renovate facilities as part of the Youth Investment Fund. Although this increase in funding is a step in the right direction, there is still much work to be done to ensure young people across the country have proper access to support and services. Through sharing best practice, those working to transform youth services can build upon their existing successes and develop new strategies to keep children out of the youth justice system, ensure services reflect the users’ needs, and promote better outcomes for children young people.

  • Over 4.4 million young people regularly engaged with youth services in the past year, according to a 2022 report from UK Youth Work
  • Organisations are nearly twice as likely to operate in the most deprived postcode areas compared to the least deprived areas, shows the 2023 National Youth Centre Census
  • In a 2022 survey conducted by the Centre for Youth Impact, 77% of respondents stated they involved young people in their work
