Restorative justice allows people harmed by a crime and the people responsible for the harm to share how the crime has affected them. It lets everyone involved play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward.

Nicola Walker and Toni Dean are the Partnerships Manager and the Restorative Services Delivery Manager for the Office of the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner. Sussex Police are one of the several partners of the Sussex Restorative Justice Partnership which was formed in 2015. The Sussex Restorative Justice Partnership (SRJP) brings together all the agencies and authorities with an interest in restorative justice. Toni has worked for Sussex Police for the last 16 years and in the world of Restorative Justice since September 2019.

In this video Walker and Dean introduce the definition and explanation of what restorative justice is and how the post-sentencing service gives victims a voice. Safeguarding victims is at the heart of this service that creates a restorative community through partnership working, helping victims recover.
