Jessica Easterbrook, Lead HR Consultant at East Sussex County Council, shares how her council adapted to the changes brought about by Covid-19 in this blog series. In this blog, she shares how the council is providing emotional support to staff.
The week starting April 27th 2020 marked the start of the ESCC dedicated campaign for staff wellbeing during COVID-19. There was a different theme each week, starting with emotional support. Every day on our staff network ‘Yammer’, there were new tips, suggestions and resources to help employees get through this difficult time.
Here are a few of the first tips shared:
- Struggling with a routine when working from home? We invited staff to have a listen to our new dedicated wellbeing Covid-19 podcast from our Occupational Health provider on how to manage this
- We shared a new wellness tip every day for ‘life in lockdown’ from a clinical psychologist and encouraged staff to share anything they have seen or heard that others might find helpful
- We focused on the battle between Anxiety and the Media – sharing some tips on good mental health hygiene, free online mediations and inviting staff to listen to a short podcast with guidance on how best to navigate this
