Overview

The Health and Care Act 2022 identifies that the core purpose of the NHS is to provide good-quality health care to all and reduce inequalities. With transgender patients experiencing worse health outcomes and access to services, this aim is becoming increasingly harder for NHS staff to live up to. Healthcare providers are facing challenges in improving outcomes for trans people due to growing mental health inequalities, poor sexual health outcomes and discrimination from staff. Now is the time for NHS Trusts to work in partnership to meet the needs of transgender and gender-diverse people and ensure that health care is accessible and non-discriminatory. By sharing exemplary best practice, sector professionals can implement improvements to transform healthcare services and support the needs of transgender people.

  • 70% of trans people experienced transphobia from their primary care provider, according to London Assembly 2022
  • 1 in 7 transgender people have been refused care by a GP in the UK, according to Forbes 2021
  • 98% of trans people responding the Trans Lives Survey 2021 do not think that NHS transition related care is completely adequate

Join us at The Transgender Healthcare Conference 2023:Tackling Inequalities and Providing Support to hear the latest policies and strategies from experts across the healthcare sector in improving health outcomes for trans people.
