Ensuring quality care for end-of-life patients is a priority in palliative medicine. When optimising patient safety a trust’s quality improvement should be closely aligned with a mortality review process.
Dr Dan Monnery is Patient Safety Lead at the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust. A consultant in palliative medicine, he is interested in using the mortality review process as a means of learning lessons about the quality of care we give patients.
