In the year ending March 2022, police recorded around 45,000 offences involving a knife or sharp object in England and Wales. [1]

Superintendent Adam Ward is Knife Crime Lead for Northamptonshire Police where he has worked for over 15 years. Between 2020 and 2021, Northamptonshire Police reduced the most serious forms of knife crime across the county by 10%.

In this video, Adam shares how Northamptonshire Police have mobilised partnerships within the community as part of Operation Sceptre – the national initiative to reduce knife crime. By working in partnership, they have created bespoke education programmes to change the culture around knife crime and reduce offences.
