In April 2021, there was a shortage of nearly 84,000 full-time equivalent staff across NHS England, according to NHS Digital. Staff retention forms a key part of the NHS Long Term Plan and well-planned preceptorships are important to welcome and integrate newly qualified practitioners.
Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust was nominated for the Best Preceptorship Programme for an organisation with under 15,000 employees at the Nursing Times Awards 2021.
