Demand for crisis mental health services has increased by a third since before the pandemic and doubled since 2017, according to NHS England.

Owen Salem is an Operational Support Officer for YouthFed. YouthFed is a youth charity supporting over 5,000 young people between the ages of 10-29. YouthFed is based in the North West and aims to create a society where all young people can achieve their full potential in life.

In this video, using his own lived experience, Owen shares the importance of recognising the early signs of a mental health crisis to ensure early intervention. He discusses how organisations and NHS trusts need to collaborate with service users to develop coping strategies following discharge from services. This further empowers service users to support one another upon discharge, creating a support network.
