In the last 10 years, local government has experienced increasing financial pressure, losing nearly £16 billion of funding in central government cuts.

Councillor Peter Fleming is Chair of the Improvement and Innovation Board for the Local Government Association and leader of Sevenoaks District Council. Sevenoaks District Council is the

first council in England that is self-sufficient from direct government funding.

In this video, Fleming shares how Sevenoaks District Council have developed, regenerated and invested in assets and property which add both social value to the local community and generate revenue for the council.
