Between 2020 and 2022, over 60,000 pieces of sexual content were reported to the Revenge Porn Helpline.

Folami Prehaye is the Founder of Victims of Image-Based Crime, which is a peer support group that provides long-term emotional support to those who have experienced Image-Based Sexual Abuse. The group was founded 4 years after Folami’s personal experience in 2014 and aims to provide non-judgemental one-on-one support to those who reach out.

In this video, Folami shares her own lived experience of image-based abuse, highlighting both the short and long-term effects of it. Discussing the impacts of the act on her mental health, she identifies that the images being taken offline are not the end of a person’s healing journey and that the effects are continuous even years after the abuse. By sharing this experience, recommendations are outlined for how services can better support victims with a trauma-informed response.
