In this conversation, recorded in November 2020, Renuka Jeyarajah-Dent OBE & Geraldine Strathdee CBE discuss preventable causes of mental illness and distress and share their own valuable insights and experiences.
Renuka is an educational psychologist who has practised in inner-city London. She has worked in CAMHS, education, social care and the voluntary sector at executive director level. She was Director of Operations and Deputy CEO at Coram for 13 years and remains there part-time as Director of Special Projects.
Geraldine is a psychiatrist and former National Clinical Director for Mental Health, NHS England; a National Professional adviser at the CQC and a co-founder of the Zero Suicide Alliance. She is visiting professor of Integrated Care at UCL.
Both Renuka and Geraldine have consulted internationally. Renuka in the arena of children in state care in Eastern Europe and Geraldine on global mental health improvement programmes.
Both have sat on several trustee boards and currently serve on The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust’s non-executive board, Renuka as a NExT NED which is a programme to encourage diversity on NHS boards.
