43% of victims would report a crime again based on their previous experiences of the criminal justice system, according to a survey conducted by the Victims’ Commissioner.

Claire Waxman OBE is the Victims Commissioner for London in the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime. She was appointed in 2017 by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, to be London’s first Independent Victims’ Commissioner, and was subsequently reappointed in May 2021.

In this video, Waxman highlights the importance of trauma-informed support to help victims navigate criminal justice proceedings. Using the London Victim Care Hub as an example of partnership working, she discusses the positive impact of the single point of contact approach of the system for victims and how it helps ensure their voice is not lost in the criminal justice proceedings.
