The suicide rate for higher education students in the academic year ending 2020 in England and Wales was 3 deaths in every 100,000 students, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Kerry-Ann Randle is Head of Student Support and Wellbeing at Bournemouth University. She has over 30 years of experience developing and leading safeguarding support for vulnerable learners within local authorities and higher education. She has been the Head of Student Support and Wellbeing since 2019, working across the university and with external partners to co-design safeguarding pathways for all students.

In this video, Randle discusses the wrap-around strategy Bournemouth University have created alongside the other universities in the town to provide wrap-around support for students and staff. She shares the importance of community date from local councils in developing the strategy to connect the plan with the wider area and ensure it is fit for practice.
