According to the National Fire Chiefs Council, there were 208 fire-related fatalities in dwelling fires between April 2021 and March 2022.
 
Steve Fisher and Carol Frances are Local Risk Crew Managers at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue. The service has 83 fire stations based throughout Devon and Somerset, they are a mix of whole-time, on-call and volunteer stations.
 
In this video, Steve and Carol discuss factors that make vulnerable people a high risk for fires and the increased dangers posed by the cost of living crisis. Sharing these common fire risks, they address the responsibilities of services to support vulnerable tenants in helping prevent fires.
